I. SUCK. AT. BLOGGING.
There, I said it. And honestly, I’m okay with it. My last blog was on October 2, 2016 and in the last 4+ months I’ve been awesomely busy. Busy with work, busy with family/friends, busy with the holidays, and just plain busy with life. If I had been sitting in front of my computer twiddling my thumbs for the last 4+ months, I’d be super stressed and contemplating a career change lol but I’ve been working A LOT. Maybe too much. I guess it’s one of those problems that’s actually a good problem to have.
In the midst of the late nights and groggy early mornings, I find myself reminiscing about the days when I started my design business. The days when I would take any job, for little or sometimes no pay. Even when things looked bleak, I continued to move forward, work hard, and hope in what the future held. Its promise of success and the difficult path it would take to attain it. And slowly it started to happen. One job turned into two. A small one-page brochure design job turned into a referral that got me one of my biggest clients. Helping a client change something on a file I didn’t create, opened an opportunity to work on an annual report. All of those things grew me. Changed me. Made me realize that work is not just about fonts and images. It’s about people and the relationships we create with them. We can either be selfish and look only to our own interests, or we can shine our Light and be nice. We can work hard and help people. We can extend grace to those around us who desperately need it.
So here we are. Two months into the new year and all I can say is I’m humbled and grateful for where I am right now. If you’re feeling down or discouraged I encourage you to keep moving forward. Seriously. Just move forward. Work hard. Do your best. And continue to hope, because at the end of the day, hope is all we have and all we need.
Here are a few of the wonderful projects I worked on the past 4 months. Enjoy.
