Bothell High School girls Volleyball

The last 5 weeks has been crazy busy for me. I seriously don’t know where all the time went. This makes me realize how difficult it is to keep up with this blog. But I will do better to keep adding blog post each week.

One of the fun projects I worked on during the last 5 weeks was for Bothell High School Volleyball. They approached me to design a logo, schedule, and banners for their seniors and teams. While I was working with the volleyball team, the ASB got in touch with me to design a 9 foot wide banner for their gym.

I LOVE THANK YOU CARDS

Call me old fashioned, but I love when I get hand written letters or cards in the mail. There’s something nostalgic and sweet about someone taking the time to write and then mailing the letter or card through the mail. In our current world, everything is instantaneous and fast, but there’s something to be said about the “good old days” of hand written letters and cards. Yesterday I received a really sweet thank you card from one of my clients and it totally made my day. The payment also helped lol but the card made it that much better. The next time someone does something nice for you, or you have an opportunity to say thanks, send a hand written card or letter and make their day!

This is what they sent! Thank you Elaine for the card!

Logo Design process

Have you ever looked at a logo and thought to yourself, “That thing looks so simple. They are complicated, yet simple. Fun, but also adhere to strict design principles. Even in logos with chaos, usually the chaos is controlled and meaningful.

Memories AND Prints

Growing up in the 80s, I remember my parents taking lots of photos of me and my brother. They didn’t have a professional camera. They didn’t have any elaborate lighting setups. They had no formal training. All they had was a simple film camera (Kodak Ektralite 10) and a desire to capture snap shots of us growing up. Back then, even as a poor, immigrant family, they were able to afford a camera to take photos us.

FRESH START

I can’t believe it’s been 12 years since I started Isaiah Hwang Design! Back in 2004, I was using a dusty old PC with barely enough RAM to run a Photoshop filter. Now here I am, 12 years later, sitting in front of my Macbook, with thoughts of nostalgia and gratitude at how far I’ve really come. Back in those days, I think I spent more time trying to get work than actually working on a project.
